It is shown that experimental data on spike production differ in pp and +p/K+p interactions at 205 360 GeV/c. The rapidity distribution of spike centres exhibits two peaks in pp, while it has one wide bump in p/Kp. The peaks are explained as coherent radiation of gluons at finite length. Due to interference phenomena, they are present in pp and practically absent in p/Kp.
